City Hall inaugurates Maravilha neighborhood in Santíssimo – Marcos de Paula/City Hall of Rio
The City of Rio, through the Municipal Secretariat of Infrastructure, delivered, this Saturday (26/04), two works of the Program neighborhood Maravilha, in the West Zone. The interventions brought urban infrastructure, accessibility and better quality of life for the locations served. The inaugurations were attended by Mayor Eduardo Paes, Deputy Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere and other representatives of the Municipal Government.
In Santíssimo, the residents of the sets Roma I and II celebrated the improvements made in the streets of the neighborhood. The services included the implementation of 1.8 thousand meters of drainage network, 3.8 thousand meters of drinking water, 13.6 thousand square meters of paving and 12.1 thousand square meters of walking. Twenty -two streets benefited, including Lourival Lima, São Bento and São João streets. The total cost was $ 11.4 million.
– Very good to come back here and see people living in a better place, having the confidence they placed in us being returned. It is this effort that we make permanently -said Mayor Eduardo Paes.
Soon after it was the turn of Sanda in Bangu. Fifteen places were awarded by the Urbanization Program of the Municipal Secretariat of Infrastructure. The services included the installation of 869 meters of drainage network, 645 meters of drinking water network, 885 meters of sewage, 9,900 square meters of paving and 6,000 square meters of pavement. The investments reached R $ 9.5 million.
– This was a work with complete urbanization of fifteen streets. We are finalizing a cycle started in 2022 and is very proud to go back here -said Deputy Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere.
More than 267,000 people are being served by the Urbanization Program
The Maravilha neighborhood is an initiative that aims to promote improvements in urban infrastructure in various neighborhoods of the city. The program operates mainly with urbanization works, such as street paving, drainage, basic sanitation, construction of sidewalks and improvements in public lighting. More than 50 projects have been delivered throughout the city since 2021 by the city. Ten are still in the West Zone and another five are underway in the North Zone. Investments to bring more dignity and development to these regions exceed R $ 1.2 billion.
The Maravilha neighborhood improves the quality of life of residents, values real estate, reduces flooding and improves the conditions of mobility and safety of the benefited neighborhoods. More than 267,000 people are being served. In addition, the Maravilha neighborhood directly contributes to social and urban development, reducing inequalities and offering better housing conditions and well-being to the population.
-It is an important program of the City of Rio de Janeiro, which makes the complete urbanization of the public places, delivery of sewage, paving and drainage of this region, which is totally revitalized -said the municipal secretary of infrastructure, Wanderson Santos.
A resident of Sandá, in Bangu, Andréia Gonçalves highlighted the importance of the work for residents of the region.
– The neighborhood will increase more and more and the residents are enjoying it a lot.
Rua Tapuia, in Ricardo de Albuquerque, gains containment
The Geo-Rio Foundation completed a slope protection work at Rua Tapuia, in Ricardo de Albuquerque. The ravine received concrete projected over 512 square meters and curtain in an area of 520 square meters. Vegetable biomanta was installed to assist in the absorption of rainwater, and a flexion wall and a wall were also built. The site also gained a staircase with railing to improve residents' access and a protective wall. The total cost of the work was R $ 5.6 million.
New excerpts of urbanization works of Morar Carioca were delivered in communities in the West Zone
Also this Saturday, Deputy Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere and the Municipal Secretary of Housing Diego Zeidan inaugurated excerpts from the Morar Carioca program, in the Parque das Mangueiras favela and Travessa Humberto Teixeira, located in the neighborhoods of Bangu and Father Miguel, in the West Zone. Residents received, for the first time, a series of infrastructure improvements and services. Water supply and drainage, sewage and paving were installed. The total investment of the works is R $ 18 million and will serve 635 households and 2,540 people.
-This is the first urbanization intervention that the city is doing in 77 and Parque das Mangueiras and will bring dignity to the people who live in the community -said Secretary Diego Zeidan.
