State of São Paulo registers first case of measles this year

The São Paulo Department of Health confirmed the registration of the first measles case in the state in 2025. The victim is a 31 -year -old man who was vaccinated and did not need hospitalization. It is already recovered and without symptoms of the disease.

Although the man is resident in the capital, the secretary is still investigating where he may have been infected. According to the portfolio, the last case native case (contracted in the city where the victim resides) of the state of São Paulo occurred in 2022.

According to the São Paulo Municipal Health Secretariat, he would have traveled to the city of Jacarezinho, Paraná, with symptoms on April 2, with fever, red spots on the body and cough. So far, the municipal administration said, no other related cases have been identified.

Initially, the disease manifests itself with high fever, malaise, runny nose, conjunctivitis, cough and lack of appetite. During this period, white spots (koplik) can be observed on the inner face of the cheeks. The red spots on the skin begin to appear behind the ears, spread throughout the body and, after three days, tend to decrease.

The vaccine is available at the UBS of the city of São Paulo from Monday to Friday, from 7am to 7pm, and on Saturdays and holidays in the Integrated AMAS/UBSS (outpatient medical care/Basic Integrated Health Units at the same time.
