The singer Nana Caymmi, 84, died on Thursday (1st) in Rio de Janeiro. The death was confirmed by his brother Danilo Caymmi. Nana was hospitalized at the São José Clinic in Botafogo, south of the carioca capital, where she was admitted to August last year to deal with a cardiac arrhythmia.
“It is with great regret that I communicate the death of my sister, Nana Caymmi. We are, of course, very shocked and sad in the family, but she also spent nine months of hospital suffering, ICU. A very painful process, several comorbidities,” Danilo said on a video posted on social networks.
Danilo also asked the statement about Nana's death to be spread to fans of the singer all over the country.

With a different voice and unmistakable style, Dinahir Tostes Caymmi, or simply Nana Caymmi, reflected the talent of an entire musical family: daughter of composer, singer and guitarist Dorival Caymmi and singer Stella Maris. She began her artistic career in 1960.
