Social worker Marcia Lopes will be the new minister of women, in place of Cida Gonçalves. President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva gave Márcia on Monday (5), in a meeting at the Planalto Palace.
According to the presidency, the dismissal of Cida and the appointment of Marcia will be published today, in extra edition of the Official Gazette.
In a publication on social networks, Marcia said she accepted Lula's invitation “with joy and deep sense of responsibility”.

Márcia Lopes was already Lula's minister in her second government in 2010, in charge of the Ministry of Social Development and Hunger Fighting. Earlier, he occupied the Executive Secretariat of the same portfolio, from 2004 to 2008. Marcia has a degree in Social Work from the State University of Londrina (UEL), in Paraná, where he was also a teacher, with a master's degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP).

In 2022, she was part of the transition team of the third Lula administration in the Social Assistance group.
Paraná is sister of Gilberto de Carvalho, a historic name of the PT who was Lula's chief of staff during his first two terms, from 2003 to 2010. Today, Carvalho acts as National Secretary of Popular and Solidarity Economy, of the Ministry of Labor and Employment.
