“This program is very exciting for me. Our honoree was fundamental to my career. It was a connection between my generation with the pioneers of samba. He lived with all the stars of the old and made a point of telling those stories of the artists who came before. It was one of the greatest composers Brazil has had.
“If I talk about Monarco, today I won't end, parodying that anthological samba,” points out Mauro Diniz. He tells how he sees his father out of the family relationship and remembers when he realized the giant figure of the sambista. “I was packed by the sambas he did and was taking a taste for this musical genre since he was a child.”
