Russia declares a three-day unilateral ceasefire in Ukraine

The Russian government reported on Monday (28) that President Vladimir Putin decided to ceasefire in the Ukraine war for three days-between May 8 and 10-due to the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Nazi Germany in World War.

“For humanitarian reasons, on the days of the 80th anniversary of the victory, midnight from May 7 and 8 until midnight on May 10 and 11, the Russian side declares a ceasefire. During this period, all military operations cease,” Kremlin said by note.

The Russian government suggested that the “Ukrainian side” should do the same and interrupt military operations in these three days. “In case of ceasefire violations on the Ukrainian side, the Russian Armed Forces will provide an adequate and effective response,” the Moscow government added.

The statement also says that Russia is still open for peace negotiations “without preconditions, aiming to eliminate the deep causes of the Ukrainian crisis and constructive interaction with international partners.”
