Lima will be the host city of the single final of the 2025 Copa Libertadores, announced Conmebol on Monday (28). The decision of the title will be on November 29, but the stadium remains undefined. The Peruvian capital was elected by the entity among two other competitors: Brasilia (DF) for having the Mané Garricha stadium, and Montevideo that competed with the centenary stadium.
This is the second time the Peruvian capital will receive the Libertadores final. The first was in 2019, when Flamengo won the two -time championship by defeating River Plate (Argentina) by 2-1 at the Monumental Stadium “U”, from Club Universitario de Deportes, with capacity for 80,000 fans. At the time, Lima was chosen last minute: originally, the decision would take place in Santiago (Chile), but due to social demonstrations at the time, the Chilean capital gave up the event for public security reasons.
Another stadium option in Lima is Nacional, with a capacity of about 50,000 people. The stadium received most of the Peruvian national team matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
