In celebration of World Intellectual Property Day, the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) promotes, this Wednesday (30)special program at the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center, in Rio de Janeiro (CCBB RJ).
With free admission, the event will have as its theme “Intellectual Property and Music: Feel the rhythm of PI”, highlighting how creativity and innovation, supported by intellectual property rights (PI), maintain the dynamic, diverse and accessible music scene.
According to the president of INPI, Júlio César Moreira, World Intellectual Property Day is the opportunity to draw society's attention to an important subject, which is in people's daily lives. For him, the event at CCBB shows this: the songs we hear are behind patented technologies, brands recorded by artists and record labels, and records of industrial designs that protect the aesthetics of objects such as musical instruments, record covers and even concert scenarios.

“We will also have a program of workshops for students and teachers. INPI is offering a unique and democratic opportunity so that citizens can understand the universe of intellectual property, whose goal is to protect legally intangible actives that form the competitive differential for entrepreneurs and companies,” said Moreira.
Throughout the day, the program will offer round tables with experts and educational workshops. The goal is to stimulate the debate on the importance of intellectual property for the strengthening of the music industry, recognizing the role of creators, inventors and entrepreneurs in the construction of new sounds, styles and technologies that shape the future of music.
Among the topics covered at tables and lectures are brands management in the music industry, music patents, challenges of collective brands for traditional communities, industrial design, intellectual property in the entertainment industry and the role of computer programs in creating and promoting music.
The activities will be carried out at the Arena and LAB of the Banco do Brasil Concept Espaço, on the ground floor of CCBB RJ, with workshops aimed at students and teachers of Basic Education, promoted by the PI Program in Schools, from INPI.

Tickets for activities can be removed free of charge at the physical box office or online of the CCBB, one hour in advance.
The event is held by INPI with the World Intellectual Property Organization (OMPI) and the Brazilian Association of Industrial Property Agents (Abapi), with the support of the Brazilian Association of Intellectual Property (ABPI).
