The City Hall of João Pessoa makes available to workers a structure that provides the necessary support in the processes of confirmation of accidents, occupational diseases and injuries resulting from the work. It is the Regional Reference Center for Occupational Health (Cerest), which serves the public at the Jaguaribe Municipal Polyclinic.
The services are intended for the recovery and rehabilitation of workers submitted to the risks and injuries arising from the work conditions. Cerest João Pessoa covers the macroregional I of Paraíba, providing assistance to patients from 64 municipalities. To get an idea, last year, about 1,200 consultations, medical follow -up, issuance of occupational accident communication (CAT), as well as compulsory health notifications were held.
“Health and work go together. There is no health without work and there is no work without health. Thus, worker health policy through Cerest fulfills an important role in health care and health surveillance actions to promote health and work -related diseases,” says Kleber José da Silva, director of Cerest.
Actions – Among the main actions carried out by Cerest highlight the specialized outpatient care and outpatient assistance by a multiprofessional team formed by social workers, nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists and occupational doctors. The Center also conducts health inspection and inspection in companies in order to identify the risks present in work activities and requiring, on a legal basis, corrective actions to eliminate, decrease or mitigate the risks.
Cerest is also directly linked to the training and qualification actions of the Health Care Network in the municipalities that make up the area of coverage, as well as in the promotion of studies and research in the area of interest to worker health, containing research actions of serious accidents and deaths in work environments.
“These diseases are predictable and predictable from the moment the risks existing in that work process are known and health and safety policies are defined to accomplish it,” says the director of Cerest.
Service – Those who need Cerest services can make an appointment by calling (83) 3213-7638 or go directly to the service, located at Alberto de Brito Street, s/n, in the Jaguaribe neighborhood, at the premises of the Jaguaribe Municipal Polyclinic. On the day of the consultation, the user needs to bring personal documents such as ID, CPF, SUS card, as well as certificates, reports and preceding medical opinions.
Upon arriving at Cerest, the worker will go through two consultations. It will be attended by professionals such as physiotherapist, social worker and nurse, who perform a qualified listening about work history (occupational anamnesis) and the history of the disease (clinical anamnesis).
The second service is performed by the doctor, who will assess whether the work was decisive or contributory for illness. Upon confirming the causal link between disease and work, the service will issue the communication of occupational accident (CAT), opinion and medical report for the purposes of workers' rights in the social security or labor court.
Cerest is regulated by SAS Ordinance No. 614 of August 17, 2006.
