Focusing on the celebrations for the 20 years of creation of the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS), this Wednesday (30) was held the Free Conference of Workers of Su, preparatory event for the 16th Municipal Social Assistance Conference, which will take place in June, in Campo Grande. This year, the theme will be: “20 years of yours: construction, social protection and resistance”.
According to Bruna Lemes Cafure Caretoni, a member of the Collegiate Coordination of the Municipal Workers of the Unified Social Assistance System (FMTSUAS), the holding of the Free Conference is unprecedented in the municipality and complied with a suggestion from the National Council of Social Assistance.
The event was held at the Su School and promoted a democratic space for debate, reflection and participation of workers in the area, both public management and civil society organizations (OSCs). Participants were divided into groups for the preparation of proposals that will be presented in the pre-conferences scheduled for May. The debates were organized on five thematic axes, addressing topics such as financing, social assistance benefits and social control.
The objective is to evaluate the social assistance policy and to define guidelines for its in the next two years, subsidizing diagnoses of territorial and local reality, identifying difficulties and situations of social disappointment, as well as contributing to the improvement of the Unified Social Assistance System.
“The support of the public power to hold the conference is extremely important to ensure everyone's participation, strengthening the suggestions and thinking of proposals that contemplate our work within social assistance,” said Bruna.

The Municipal Workers Forum (FMTSUAS) aims to articulate the collective of professionals of the Campo Grande Social Assistance Policy – both public and private institutions – seeking support from political and deliberative instances.

Preparatory events to the Municipal Conference allow you to evaluate the work already done, propose new actions and goals, and ensure that the municipality advances in meeting the demands and needs of users and workers in the sector.
Following the closure of the workers' conference, the FMTSUAS will forward the proposals prepared to the 16th Municipal Conference. After approval in plenary, these proposals will be incorporated into the municipal social assistance plans and the municipality's administrative pieces, which will also be sent to the State Conference.
The municipal social assistance conferences take place every two years. The last edition was held in 2023 and had as its theme the strengthening of yours. The event is promoted by the City Hall of Campo Grande, through the Municipal Secretariat of Social Assistance (SAS), in partnership with the Municipal Council of Social Assistance (CMAS).
